Elizabeth Gradidge, who runs Ruthven House, a bed-and-breakfast business in Coldstream in the Scottish Borders, has been named AA landlady of the year 2005.
Judges complemented Gradidge’s balance of hospitability and professionalism at her B&B she runs with her husband at an award ceremony on 11 May at Tylney Hall, Hampshire.
The two runners up in the competition were also Scottish, and were Elizabeth Scott of Ashcroft Farmhouse, East Calder, and Margot McLaughlan of Cragallan.
It is the first time in the competition’s 12-year history all three finalists have come from north of the border.
Gradidge wins a Villeroy & Boch dinner service and a luxury weekend for two at an AA Top 200 hotel of her choice.
