Fairmont to open hotel in Saudi Arabia
Fairmont Hotels and Resorts is to add a new hotel in Makkah in Saudi Arabia, scheduled to open in September. The hotel, known as the Makkah Clock Royal Tower, will be among the world's tallest towers, standing 577 meters high with a 40-metre clock, viewable from 17km away. The hotel will feature Fairmont Gold, the company's exclusive hotel within a hotel, as well as numerous dining outlets.

Carlson expands in Asia Pacific
Carlson Hotels Worldwide has announced plans to increase its presence in Asia Pacific, with the opening of a new hotel in Malaysia in 2011. The Regent Kuala Lumpur will be a 250-room hotel with additional 102 luxury apartments located in the city centre. Carlson has more than 9,000 rooms under management in 11 countries across Asia Pacific.

Starwood to launch St Regis in Africa
Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide is to launch its St. Regis brand in Africa, with a new property set to open in Cairo in 2011. The St. Regis Cairo will include 299 rooms and 103 serviced apartments and will form part of a mixed-use development overlooking the Nile River. It will include more than 8,000sq ft of meeting and conference space, as well as a business centre, shops and parking area. There will also be four restaurants and a lounge, an outdoor pool, a spa and fitness centre.

Marriott to add nine hotels in Saudi Arabia
Marriott International is to add nine new properties in Saudi Arabia from 2010. The new hotels will be located in Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam and Jubail and will represent the following Marriott International brands: The Ritz-Carlton Hotels, The Ritz-Carlton Residences, Marriott Hotels & Resorts, Marriott Executive Apartments and Courtyard by Marriott. When opened, they will increase Marriott International's presence in the Kingdom to 12 properties.
