The latest news from the Chef Conference 2008

Marco Pierre White is a bit confused about the point behind molecular gastronomy, according to the Caterer Blog, which is awash with the latest news from the Chef Conference 2008.

The famous chef was just one of a star-studded line up speaking to 250 delegates at Caterer’s conference today at the InterContinental hotel in London.

Marco Pierre White also found time to have a sly dig at some of his chef rivals and said:

“I don’t mind paying £300 for Michelin star food but I want the chef to be behind the stove. If I bought Elton John tickets and his right hand man turned up to play I wouldn’t be too impressed.”

The Chef Conference was opened by Arthur Potts-Dawson of environmentally friendly restaurants the Acorn House and the Water House, who was followed by Michelin starred half-Danish chef René Redzepi.

There’s Chef Conference lunchcourtesy of Lexington Catering - pictures to view courtesy of led by executive chef Rob Kirby and an interesting take on local sourcing from Birmingham chef Glynn Purnell.

Tom Keller’s French Laundry pastry chef Claire Clark and Gordon Ramsay protégé Angela Hartnett are on hand to discuss life in Naper Valley and hotel York & Albany and fine-dining restaurant Murano, respectively.
