Hilton Hotels Corporation (HHC) is to enter the UK’s budget hotel market with the introduction of its Hampton brand, Caterer can reveal.
The group announced today it has signed a development agreement with hotel franchise owner and operator Somerston Hotels UK to introduce 25 new hotels – around 3,000 rooms - across the UK within the next five years.
The brand, which Phil Cordell, senior vice-president of brand management for Hampton said will establish a “new kind of economy”, includes complimentary high-speed internet access, complimentary hot breakfast and a 100% satisfaction guarantee.
Simon Vincent, area president of Hilton UK and Ireland added the deal represented a “significant first move into the economy sector” and would help reach the company target of doubling the estate from 75 hotels to 150 within a decade.
Privately owned, Somerston, currently owns and operates 34 UK hotels, the majority (32) under the Express by Holiday Inn brand.
