Former Apsleys executive chef Massimiliano Blasone joins MARC
Massimiliano Blasone (pictured), the former executive chef of Heinz Beck's Michelin-starred Apsleys restaurant at London's Laneborough hotel, has joined the Marlon Abela Restaurant Corporation (MARC).
Italian chef Blasone, who had been at Apsleys since it relaunched in September 2009 and had worked for Beck for over a decade, has been appointed the new executive chef of MARC's Provençal restaurant Cassis in Kensington.
However, with the group planning to launch a London outpost of its Michelin-starred Italian restaurant concept A Voce, which has two sites in New York, the chef could subsequently head this up.
Prior to working at Apsleys, Blasone was executive chef at the Michelin-starred Il Ristorante in Montalcino, Tuscany. He has also worked at the three-Michelin-starred La Pergola in Rome and Residenz Heinz Winkler in Aschau, Germany.
Commenting on Blasone's appointment, MARC chairman Marlon Abela, said: "Massimiliano Blasone has gained an outstanding reputation as a passionate and uncompromising chef who demands the very best.
"He is very attuned to the way people like to dine in the 21st century and his ingredient-driven cuisine coupled with his fresh, expressive technique is well suited to the style of Cassis. His appointment presents us with a fantastic opportunity to take Cassis to the next level."
At Cassis Blasone will develop the menus by introducing a range of pastas and new dishes infused with the flavours of his Mediterranean heritage.
