The Wine & Spirits Education Trust (WSET) has awarded a special prize to the 1,000th member of its Institute of Wine & Spirits (IWS).
Toby Knowles, a WSET Diploma student who works for Mission Hill Winery in British Columbia, Canada, was met by IWS coordinator Nicolla Greaves, who presented him with a magnum bottle of Champagne.
Since launching in 2004, more than 1,040 members in 35 countries have joined the institute, which offers seminars and classes, tailored wine and spirit tours, market data and job vacancies.
WSET recently relocated to the newly opened International Wine & Spirit Centre in London’s Bermondsey Street, which includes three lecture rooms, a library and resource centre as well as meeting rooms.
