Compass was given the EDS Social Commitment Award, which goes to the business that has demonstrated a proven commitment to society and social issues for its ESS Rehabilitation Programme.

The caterer was recognised for its work involving serving female offenders from HM Prison Drake Hall in Staffordshire, which work as fully salaried team members of Compass catering division ESS at the Ministry of Defence’s Swynnerton training camp, gaining experience and skills.

Judge Casper Malig said: “Compass touched a subject that most others would have walked away from. It is an innovative and daring project with huge potential for longer term sustainability.”

Smoothie maker Innocent won the Award for Supply Chain Excellence.
