Yauatcha called in at Battersea Power Station

Thursday 12 October 2006 00:00

Alan Yau's Michelin-starred restaurant Yauatcha has set up a temporary satellite camp at Battersea Power Station as part of Chinese festival China Power Station: Part I.

The Soho-based dim sum restaurant is the exclusive caterer for the event, organised by the Serpentine Gallery, which will be running at the famous south London landmark until 5 November.

Housed in the Toyo Ito Pavilion, Yauatcha's outlet has been designed to complement the exhibition and serves a selection of dim sum as well as Chinese pâtisseries and Champagne afternoon tea.

China Power Station: Part I combines Chinese video art, sound and architectural installations throughout the site, with 150 bicycles provided for touring the grounds. Part II will be developed in Oslo next year, with Part III taking place in Beijing in 2008.

Plans to develop the power station into a multimillion-pound leisure complex were recently shelved by the owner, Hong Kong developer Victor Hwang, in favour of a housing project.
