Unifine has been voted the Bakery Supplier of the Year in the British Baker Magazine’s annual awards.
The international supplier of value-added ingredients to the baking and food trades – which was acquired this July by North American ingredients specialist Dawn Foods – is well known for its high-grade Belgian chocolate fillings and toppings and for its Fruibel fruit ingredients.
The judges praised Unifine’s strong focus on customer service, its innovative product development, and its “great community interaction” – for instance, the group uses its customer demonstration facilities for training sponsored students.
“The judges were particularly impressed with the way we work with customers and the fact that we make time to listen to them. It obviously works, since many of our customers – and indeed, our staff – have been with us for a lot of years,” said Unifine managing director Simon Solway.
“We have been known to weather floods and even the odd snowstorm or two when a baker in northern Scotland has been in trouble in the middle of the night.”
