Marc Mac Closkey is new GM at Taunton's Castle hotel
The Castle hotel and Brazz brasserie in Taunton, Somerset, have appointed Marc Mac Closkey as the new general manager.
Mac Closkey, 42, joins the 44-bedroom property from the 50-bedroom Lisloughrey Lodge in Cong, County Mayo.
Originally from County Mayo and a graduate of University College Dublin, Mac Closkey has worked with Hyatt International, Mandarin Oriental and Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts. He said he was excited to be moving to Somerset with his family.
"The West Country is a truly unique place and I very much look forward to managing one of the region's finest hotels," he said.
The Castle's owner, Kit Chapman, said Mac Closkey would be a key player in the team at the hotel. "He is an outstanding professional - with the charm and personality to match," he said. "We all see him injecting new energy and leadership in shaping the hotel for the future."
Mac Closkey will take up his new position on 9 January 2012. He replaces Kevin McCarthy, who is leaving the hotel after 12 years to set up his own financial consultancy business.
