An eclectic menu featuring dishes from far-flung destinations will be the focus of Mark Hix's new restaurant at the soon-to-launch Belgraves hotel in Belgravia, London.
The 80-seat Hix Belgravia will mark a departure for Hix, whose five other restaurants in London and Dorset are focused on indigenous British ingredients and dishes. It will be inspired by Hix's worldwide travels and sit alongside the second Mark's Bar, which aims to replicate the success of the original in Soho.
Due to open in January 2012, the 85-bedroom Belgraves is a joint venture between luxury hotel company Thompson Hotels and the Hong-Kong based Harilela Group.
Hix, who writes a weekly column in The Independent and has penned a number of books on British food, said the new restaurant and bar would be first-rate destinations which would bring something unique to Belgravia. "We've had fun with the menu and are going 'off piste' as I like to say, so if you're expecting my signature British style then think again," he said.
Jason Pomeranc, co-owner of Thompson Hotels, added: "Marrying Hix and Thompson Hotels is an exceptional offering which perfectly epitomises the philosophy of Belgraves to blend traditional British hospitality with an American bohemian attitude."
Hix Belgravia and Mark's Bar, like the rest of the hotel, are designed by Tara Barnard. Starting bedroom rate at the hotel will be £336.
