The €41m (£28m) purchase by Orient Express Hotels of the 63-bedroom La Residencia hotel in Mallorca, Spain, has won the single-asset Deal of the Year Award at the International Hotel Investment Forum in Berlin, Germany.
The deal also included the 32-suite Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons in Oxfordshire, UK.
The new development Deal of the Year Award went to Accor's Sofitel St James's in London. The project involved converting a listed building formerly owned by Lloyds bank into a 186-bedroom hotel at a cost of £50m.
Portfolio Deal of the Year went to Spain's NH Hoteles for its €130m (£88.7m) acquisition of an 80% stake in Germany's Astron Hotels. The remaining 20% will be bought over the next seven years.
