Seawood hotel

The Seawood hotel in the tourist town of Lynton, Devon, has changed hands. The Victorian Grade II-listed property sits on wooded cliffs 400 feet above sea level, with Lynton and its twin town Lynmouth at the bottom of the hill.

It lies within the Devon part of Exmoor National Park and commands vies across the Bristol Channel towards South Wales.

The coastal path runs in front of the hotel, the famous Valley of the Rocks lies to one side, and the two-AA-star hotel has its own private, gated path to the Cliff Railway and the centre of Lynton.

Facilities include 12 en-suite bedrooms to sleep 23 guests (including four four-poster rooms), a self-contained three-bedroom apartment for the owners, a 24-seat restaurant, a cocktail bar, a residents’ lounge and a full-length terrace.

The hotel achieved a draft net turnover of £128, 607 in the year to April 2007. For the year before, it reported an adjusted profit of £58,211 on a £119,240 net turnover.

The Plymouth office of Colliers Robert Barry sold the freehold off a guide price of £875,000 on behalf of Mark and Gill Jenkins.  The new owners are Kerinda Green and Russell Meyers from Hampshire.
