Northern Hospitality winners for 2010 announced

Liverpool's Hope Street hotel has walked off with the award for 'best hotel' at last night's Northern Hospitality Awards.

The awards ceremony, now in its fifth year, saw over 250 guests from restaurants, bars, pubs and hotels from across the North West, Yorkshire and the North East, gather at the Hilton Deansgate, Manchester.
 
The night’s winners were:

Best Restaurant - Greens Restaurant & Bistro, Whitby.
Best Hotel - Hope Street Hotel, Liverpool.
Best Bar - Corridor, Manchester.
Best Pub - The Feathers Inn, Stocksfield, Northumbria.
Best Newcomer – Van Zeller, Harrogate.
Best Wine Offering - The Devonshire Arms, Bolton Abbey, North Yorkshire.
Best General Manager - Michael Magrane, The Midland Hotel, Manchester.
Best Chef - James Mackenzie, The Pipe and Glass Inn, Beverley.
Special Achievement - Peter Papprill, Pendrills & The Cheese Detective.

Thom Hetherington, managing director of Moorfield Media, organisers of the awards, commented: “The calibre of entries this year has been exceptionally high and I know that our judges were faced with quite a challenge when selecting the winners. I would like to congratulate both the winners, the finalists as well as all those who entered the awards: it is really encouraging to see such passion and enthusiasm and I hope that the North continues to shine in the hospitality industry.”
