Belfast Airport deal for SSP
Select Service Partner Airport & Marine Restaurants, part of Compass Group, has won a 12-year contract at Belfast International Airport to operate seven catering outlets plus lounge facilities. The contract includes high-street brands such as Burger King and O’Briens plus the Irish-themed Aldergrove bar and a new “Travel Happy” food village. The deal has an annual turnover of £10.8m.
New contracts for Holroyd Howe
Buckinghamshire-based Holroyd Howe has added another two contracts to its portfolio. The caterer has just started a three-year contract, with the option to extend it for a further two years, with car manufacturer Honda UK at its head office in Langley, Berkshire. The contract has an annual turnover of £600,000 and will see Holroyd Howe feeding up to 800 across two sites. And yesterday Holroyd Howe started a three-year contract at the Design Council near London’s Covent Garden. The £150,000-a-year deal sees Holroyd Howe catering for 50 staff and up to 150 visitors a day.
Charity starts at Charlton House
Reading-based Charlton House has started a new contract to manage a café bar and full conference catering services for health charity the King’s fund. The caterer has a £500,000 one-year rolling contract at the charity’s headquarters in Cavendish Square, London. The venue has 12 meeting rooms with space for up to 300 people.
SSP expands in Tunisia…
Select Service Partner (SSP) has opened a new Caffé Ritazza at Tunis Carthage Airport in Tunisia. It says the 30sq m shop is the largest Caffé Ritazza in the world. Since the coffee shop open earlier in the month, sales per passenger have increased by 30%, claimed SSP;compared with the non-branded coffee shop that had previously occupied the space.
…and in Germany
Select Service Partner (SSP) has opened four new units in the new Terminal C at Düsseldorf Airport in Germany. The company has opened two Caffé Ritazza coffee shops, a Bana Gel doner kebab shop, created to target the large number of Turkish travellers who use the airport, and Piazza Alfredo, an Italian restaurant. SSP will also open an Italian ice cream shop later this month.
Join the cue
Aramark served up more than 23,000 cups of coffee as it catered for snooker players and spectators at this year’s World Snooker Championships. Aramark has been providing a drinks and hospitality service to the tournament venue the Crucible theatre in Sheffield for more than 14 years. As well as the coffee, more than 10,000 cups of tea and 350 litres of orange juice were served in the players' bar, media lounge and world champions lounge.
Divide and cater in Germany’s Big Brother
One of Germany's biggest events caterers Karl Broich Catering Company has won the contract to provide catering for the fourth series of Germany's Big Brother TV programme. It will feed both the production team and contestants.
