Home House expands into next door

London's uber-chic private club Home House is set to double in size, after completing a deal to buy the building next door.

Bespoke Hotels, manager and joint owner of the members-only club in Portman Square, has bought No 21 to add to its existing premises at No 19 and 20.

The £4m extension will add extra bedrooms, bars, lounges and drawing rooms. The property's leisure facilities will also be upgraded and a state-of-the-art gym installed.

Bespoke chairman David Coubrough said the expansion would help relieve the frustrated demand for membership, which currently stands at about 2,200.

He said: "We are currently at saturation point and are having to turn people away. This will enable us to take a further 500 members from our waiting list."

Bespoke has also secured the management contract for a four-star hotel resort in Tregorrick near St Austell in Cornwall.

The Grade II-listed manor house will be converted into a 66-bedroom hotel and spa with 60 buy-to-let properties. It is set to open in early 2008.

Coubrough said the development in Cornwall would result in "one of the West of England's premier resorts".
