The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has launched a consultation on draft voluntary guidelines that would reuire caterers to lavel all foods containing allergens that could cause serious illness or death.
Under current law, only prepacked foods have to list allergenic ingredients.
The FSA wants to extend this labelling to goods made on the premises and sold in restaurants,bakeries,delis and salad bars.
The deadline for submissions to th eindustry consuiltation is 27 September.
