Midweek room rates in London's hotels are increasing faster than at the weekend, according to June figures from the hotel bench marking service The Bench.
This is especially true of the five-star sector, which has seen the gulf between room rates in midweek and at weekends widen the most.
Five-star figures show that midweek rates have shot up by £27 to £260.07 from last June, compared with weekend rates up just £19 to £233.78 in the same period
Year on year, midweek rates grew by 11.67% compared with growth of 9.25% at the weekend.
"Midweek demand is unbeleivably strong". said James Chappell, managing director of The Bench. "The figures reflect how hotels are able to move their rom rates with the midweek corporate market more than with the weekend leisure market".
A similar trend is evident in the four and three star markets but to a lesser extent,l particularly in the three star sector, where weekend rates for the sedctor grew by a mere 0.88% year on year
