Brighton’s Fishy Fishy is mass market but stylish, says critic

Fishy Fishy

Fishy Fishy in Brighton - newly opened by TV personality Dermot O’Leary - is a great alternative to the seaside town’s mid-market dining scene, according to Tracey MacLeod.

The Independent’s food critic says that like its owner, the restaurant is “unashamedly pitched at the mass market, but with a stylish twist”.

“[But] what bad luck to open a fish restaurant just as The End of the Line hits UK screens, the film which has taken tuna and cod off the menu for all right-thinking people,” she wonders.

Meanwhile, Elfreda Pownall of the Sunday Telegraph finds eating at fellow Brighton seafood restaurant Due South to be a hit and miss affair.

“Our lunch was too slapdash to be a real treat,” she says.

The Observer’s Jay Rayner is glad to leave the country after eating at the New York Grill & Bar at the Radission SAS Hotel, Stansted Airport; while The Times’ Giles Coren likes the food, but is appalled at the over-inflated prices at Dolada in London.
