Wetherspoon's sees summer like-for-like sales rise

Pub chain JD Wetherspoon has seen like-for-like sales rise by 1.6% in the 11 weeks to 10 July 2011, with total sales up by 7.1%.

The company said that in the financial year to date (50 weeks to 10 July), like-for-like sales increased by 2.2% and overall sales were up by 7.5%.

Operating margin before exceptionals for the second half of the year was expected to be around 9.5%.

Wetherspoon's opened 38 pubs and disposed of two over the period. It said it expected to open 50 in the coming year.
