Accor brings economy hotel brands into Ibis stable
Hotel group Accor is to bring two of its economy hotel brands into the Ibis stable, as part of a rebranding exercise.
While Ibis will remain as Ibis, All Seasons will become Ibis Styles, and Etap Hotel will become Ibis Budget.
"Today we are launching a large-scale project to establish Accor as the world reference in the hotel industry capable of inventing the hotels of the future. This major initiative will involve all our teams," Accor chairman and chief executive Denis Hennequin said.
The firm indicated that it had made the change because customer expectations had changed and that the separation of economy brands from more upscale brands was "a thing of the past".
The rebranding will take place in 2012, and the hotels will be modernised and bedding comfort will be improved.
