Avocado - the oil

Wednesday 08 October 2003 15:43

The latest import from New Zealand is cold pressed extra virgin avocado oil. It has a high smoking point 0f 271°C, allowing it to cook fish and vegetables without burning, and its green colour and avocado aroma make it suitable in for drizzling over salad or for bread dipping. The oil is also available in four infusions: basil, rosemary, lemon, and chilli and bell pepper. Look out for an aerosol version later in the year.

PRICE: £7.30 for 500ml, infused oils £4.50 for 250ml

AVAILABLE FROM: Giffords Speciality Foods 01582 727277
