Michelle White has been promoted to director of environmental affairs at Fairmont Hotels & Resorts.
Canadian White, is an authority on sustainable operations within the tourism industry and has been an ambassador of Fairmont's award-winning Green Partnership Program for several years.
In her new role, White will continue to be responsible for the operations of Fairmont’s environment programme – which was recognised last year by World Travel & Tourism Council Global Tourism Business Award for the Best Corporate Social Responsibility Program Award at the 2006 Worldwide Hospitality Awards.
Fairmont’s Green Partnership programme focuses on improvements in the areas of waste management, energy and water conservation and innovative community outreach programs involving local groups and partnerships.
The programme also drives sustainability and encompasses everything from recycling and organic waste diversion in the hotel’s kitchens to retrofitting energy efficient lighting.
