David Clarke joins Bespoke Hotels as non-executive director

David Clarke, the former chief executive of Best Western Hotels, has been appointed non-executive director of management group Bespoke Hotels.

He stepped down from the helm at Best Western earlier this year after six years in the job, during which time he appeared on the Channel 4 TV series Undercover Boss.

"Bespoke Hotels is the perfect starting point (as a non-executive director) as it specialises in operating hotels on behalf of investors requiring a tailor-made service for their asset," said Clarke. "Bespoke is an innovative company and that creativity is going to be really important as hotel owners look to see how they can improve the top line."

Prior to working for Best Western, Clarke was general manager of a number of hotels, including the five-star Caledonian in Edinburgh. He co-founded the marketing consortium Connoisseur Scotland and is fellow of the Institute of Hospitality and a Master Innholder.

Bespoke Hotels was founded in 2000 by Robin Sheppard as chairman and Haydan Fentum as chief executive. Today the group is one of the UK's largest hotel management companies, with 52 hotels in the UK, Europe and the Caribbean
