Marco Pierre White: going back to his roots

Celebrity chef Marco Pierre White is to expand his restaurant business with the launch of three new ventures in the North West of England.

The former three-Michelin-starred chef will launch two restaurants and an events venue in Lancashire in January 2010.

The first launch, Marco Pierre White at the West Tower, will comprise a wedding and events venue in Aughton, which will open in early January.

The two restaurants, which will open later in January, will comprise a Marco Pierre White-branded eatery at the Swan Inn pub in Aughton as well as a Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar & Grill at the Doubletree by Hilton hotel in Chester.

White said the future of eating out was “affordable glamour, straightforwardness and back to basics”.

“This is what I will be bringing to the North West,” he said.

“It marks a new chapter in my career, I’ve never lost my northern roots and I can’t wait to bring the next generation of cooking to the region.”

White, who recently opened two restaurants at the Fairmont Bab Al Bahr hotel in Abu Dhabi, has relaunched Luciano’s in St James’s, London, as fish restaurant Wheelers. He plans to roll out the brand across London and in Dubai.
