Former Jesmond Dene GM appointed as ops director of four country house hotels
Eric Kortenbach, former general manager of the Jesmond Dene House hotel in Newcastle, has been appointed as operations director for a collection of country house hotels in the north of England and Scotland.
Kortenbach, whose career as a hotelier spans more than 30 years, will take charge of Doxford Hall, Eshott Hall and Guyzance Hall, all of which are in Northumberland, and Dalhoustie Castle on the outskirts of Scotland.
He had previously spent seven years as general manager of the four star Jesmond Dene House, which has just been awarded the Cesar award by the Good Hotel Guide 2012. It also received four AA Red Stars and three AA Rosettes under his management.
In his newly created role, Kortenbach will work with the management team to develop all of the properties, owned by Guyzance Hall Ltd, in terms of service and customer care, as well as assisting in optimising financial performance.
"This is a very special collection of hotels. The properties are diverse and all have history and heritage. I want to see them remain independent destinations in their own right, places that people really want to visit, stay, relax in and enjoy, for what they uniquely offer. The greatest challenge will be getting everyone to think beyond their own individual remit, and look at the hotels and themselves as a part of the wider industry," he said.
