AiP wins Soil Association's Gold Award for its Kensington and Chelsea contracts

Education caterer Alliance in Partnership (AiP) has been awarded the Soil Association's Food for Life Gold Award for its 26 contracts in the London Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.

The caterer was recognised for providing freshly prepared, locally sourced, organic, free-range and Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) meals at an awards ceremony last week.

Celebrated chef Brian Turner presented Amy Teichman, food development chef for the Kensington and Chelsea AiP group contract, and nutrition manager Elaine Armstrong with the catering mark.

AiP managing director David Wellers commented: "Our efforts since inception of the contracts have led to a greater interest in school meals from all parties out of curiosity, improved meal choice and consequently increased meal take-up."

The gold catering mark requires 50% of the menu to be local produce, 30% to be of organic origin or Marine Stewardship Council approved, 75% freshly prepared daily and free from genetically modified ingredients.
