ISS Eaton wins Business Diversity Award

ISS Eaton has won recognition for its best practice in diversity recruitment at a Scottish business awards ceremony. 

The Inverclyde & Renfrewshire Business Diversity Awards named the contract caterer and facilities management firm Overall Winner for demonstrating best practice in recruitment and retention of people from diverse backgrounds and abilities. 

In particular, the award recognised the company’s support for Steven Harold, who has been working as a kitchen porter for ISS Eaton for more than 14 months as part of its Hewlett Packard Contract at Erskine. 

Steven suffered a serious head injury several years ago. His injuries resulted in severe short-term memory loss and although returning to work proved difficult, ISS Eaton gave him the opportunity of a full time position within the kitchens.

Simon Titchener, managing director of ISS Eaton, said that being named as the Overall Winner was a real honour for his team. 

“Steven offers tremendous dedication and has become an integral part of the team here at ISS Eaton,” he added. “As with all other members of staff, we will continue to reward his hard work and provide him with the right tools to progress within the company at a pace that suits him.”

The time and dedication that ISS Eaton continues to offer Harold on a day-to-day basis was also recognised. This includes offering him opportunities to progress within the company and allowing him to work at his own speed. In addition, the company has regular reviews with Harold to ensure that he is comfortable and continuing to manage his role.
