Novotel has launched TV Dining to cater for lone business or leisure travellers.

The new free-view facility has been introduced at the Novotel Sheffield hotel.

It allows single customers to plug-in and watch terrestrial TV while they dine or enjoy a drink in the hotel restaurant or lobby, in a similar style to in-flight entertainment systems.

Roger Smith, director of marketing and distribution at Novotel owner Accor Hotels said: “We know that guests travelling alone frequently avoid restaurants because they stand out from other diners.

With TV Dining they have an experience that’s designed for them with in-built entertainment that doesn’t intrude on other guests.”

Smith said he was very pleased with the initial feedback about the service from guests.
