Orchid pubs to sell Daily Express and OK! magazine
Pub group Orchid has clinched a deal to sell publications from Express Newspapers in 30 of its sites as part of a trial to appeal to female customers.
The group will offer the Daily and Sunday Express as well as OK! magazine at full price in a sale or return arrangement with the newspaper publisher. Orchid will receive 25% of the cover price for every copy sold and will receive free stands and free delivery.
Orchid said the "female-focused" publications would sit well within its business and have been chosen to help boost each venue's offering and attract more women guests.
"This is just one of the many things Orchid is doing to stay ahead of the game in these difficult times and ensure we remain family-friendly, welcoming places for all our customers," explained Simon Dodd, commercial director at Orchid Group.
"The Express and OK! are strong publications, and we hope that by combining forces we will drive success for both our companies."
If the trial is a success then it will roll out to all Orchid pubs which feature a ‘Fun House' for entertaining children, as Orchid's research shows that these are the outlets where women spend most time on their own or with children.
