Chateau du Galoupet owners to launch London restaurant

The owners of the Chateau du Galoupet vineyard in the South of France are set to launch their first restaurant venture in London this spring.

Named after their vineyard in Provence, Galoupet will be a restaurant, wine bar and shop opening in Beauchamp Place in Knightsbridge in May.

Spread over two floors, the restaurant will serve a healthy menu inspired by the flavours of the Mediterranean and Asia, with emphasis on nutritional balance, seasonality and sustainability.

Former Zuma sous chef Chris Golding will head up the kitchen at Galoupet. He previously worked at Michelin-starred London restaurants Nobu, Nahm and the Square. Typical dishes will include raw mackerel, purple potatoes, pistachio, mint and candied lemon; and aged sirloin of beef, wild garlic and salsa piccante.

The wine list at Galoupet will change with the seasonal menu on which each dish will be paired with several wines by the glass. There will also be a prix fixe wine-pairing menu.

Vychith Heuang Praseuth will join the restaurant as general manager, having previously held roles at Asia de Cuba at the St Martin’s Lane Hotel and Sake No Hana, which he helped launch in 2008.

Meanwhile the wine store at Galoupet will be situated at the front of the Georgian terraced building, offering a range of wines both from the owners’ vineyard and other hand-picked winemakers from around the world. The wines will be chosen by a host of guest sommeliers from top London restaurants as well as wine writers.

The Chateau du Galoupet vineyard is located by the sea in Côtes de Provence and has held the renowned Cru Classé status since 1955.
