Gary Neville to develop hotel at Old Trafford
Former Manchester United football star Gary Neville had been given the green light to build a £20m hotel close to Old Trafford, despite objections from his former club.
Trafford Council has granted planning permission for the three- to four-star, 139-bedroom hotel, which will incorporate the Old Trafford Supporters Club.
Manchester United originally supported the planning application, but later objected, saying that the hotel could undermine its vision for its continued enhancement of the area surrounding the stadium, which includes plans for hospitality, conference, retail and visitor facilities.
Former general manager of the Stafford hotel in London, Stuart Procter, has worked with Neville in drawing up the plans for the hotel, which include extensive food and beverage facilities.
