The Turnberry Golf Resort has reopened after a £40m renovation just in time to host the prestigious Open Championship later this week.

The Scottish hotel, which is part of Starwood Hotels and Resorts’ Luxury Collection, has seen its public spaces and 40 of its 211 guests rooms overhauled.

Michael Wale, senior vice-president and director of operations, North West Europe, Starwood Hotels & Resorts said: “Internationally recognised as one of the world’s most prestigious golfing destinations, Turnberry Resort adds another jewel to The Luxury Collection's glittering ensemble.”

Redesigned by interior design firm Fox Linton Associates, the scheme features floor to ceiling windows, and subtle interior colours to preserve the charm of the 103 year old resort.

Original architect James Miller’s Grand Tea Lounge ,overlooking the golf courses and Irish sea, has been redesigned to its original splendour. 1906 will open for breakfast and dinner, offers guests a casual dining experience, featuring classic brasserie inspired dishes such as eggs Benedict, ouefs en cocotte, lobster Thermidor and more.

Turnberry is owned by Dubai-based investment firm Leisurecorp, a subsidiary of Nakheel Hotels. The Open will be held from 16-19 July.
