The Bell at Skenfrith and London's Fishmarket restaurant have won the top awards in this year's Trophée Gosset Celebris competition in recognition of outstanding Champagne lists.
The Bell, in Monmouthshire, took the competition's provincial title, while Conran's Fishmarket, on Liverpool Street, won the capital award.
The two operations beat off stiff competition from a shortlist of 17 establishments, including industry heavyweights Winteringham Fields in north Lincolnshire, Chewton Glen in New Milton, Hampshire, and Gleneagles in Auchterarder.
Runners-up in the provincial category were the Harrow at Little Bedwyn, near Marlborough, Wiltshire, and Champagne and oyster bar, Who'd A Thought It, in Maidstone, Kent. Capital runners-up were Hakkasan and the Pearl restaurant and bar at the Chancery Court hotel.
Michel Roux chaired the judging panel, which included food and wine writers Charles Metcalfe, Fiona Sims and Josie Butchart of Harpers Wine & Spirit Weekly. William Smith, formerly restaurant manager at last year's winning restaurant, Putney Bridge, also joined the team.
Winners both received an invitation for four people to visit Champagne Gosset at Aÿ with a gourmet dinner and overnight accommodation in Champagne.
