Quinlan Private has ended its association with the Savoy name with the sale of the Savoy Theatre in London for an undisclosed sum.
The new owners of the 1,200-seat theatre are the Ambassador Theatre Group and the Tulbart Group. The acquisition is Ambassador’s eleventh West End venue.
London’s Savoy hotel was sold to a joint venture made up of Fairmont, Kingdom Hotels and Bank of Scotland Corporate for an estimated £200m last year.
Quinlan itself retained the Berkeley, Claridge’s and Connaught hotels from the four-strong Savoy Group it bought in April 2004, and is running them under the newly created Maybourne banner.
Derek Quinlan, chairman of Quinlan Private, said: “The Savoy Theatre was not a core property for our investors and we are pleased to have an opportunity to realise further value.”
