Award winning London gastropub the Duke of Cambridge has been named Best Organic Restaurant 2008 by the Soil Association.
The Duke of Cambridge, in Islington, is already the only pub in the UK to hold Soil Association accreditation.
Soil Association judges praised the seasonal menu that changes twice daily and the fact that staff at the pub regularly visit the organic farmers and growers that supply them, directly where possible.
Around 80% of the venture’s fresh produce comes from the Home Counties to keep food miles to a minimum and its fish buying policy was one of the first to be approved by the Marine Conservation Society.
The full results of the 2008 awards are available on the Soil Association website.
