Ramada Jarvis has become the first national hotel group to achieve Green Tourism Business Scheme (GTBS) award at bronze level or above at all of its 41 hotels and headquarters.
The scheme, validated by VisitBritain, provides a framework for assessing and monitoring improvements in environmental policy in the tourism industry.
Ramada Jarvis was recognised after making sure each hotel has a green co-ordinator; that all electrical equipment is purchased with regards to efficiency; introduced flow restriction technology for its water and has worked on reducing print paper and ink use.
Calum Ross, regional director for Ramada Jarvis and head of its green steering group, said: “We’ve are proud to be officially recognised as supporting sustainable tourism in the UK. The wards are a result of hard-working green co-ordinators at ground level.”
