TCG embarks on multimillion-pound investment in pub estate

Pub group TCG has embarked on a multimillion-pound investment programme across its estate, starting with the £200,000 refurbishment and rebranding of its Norwich pub.

TCG, which operates 100 managed pubs and bars nationwide, has converted Henry's Café Bar, located in Haymarket in the heart of the city, into the Lamb Inn, which will reopen on 20 October.

The pub was originally called the "Holy Lamb" when it opened in the early 1700s, with bricks from a demolished church on the site used in its construction. Within a few years, it became the Lamb Inn. The pub became a Rat & Parrot in the 1990s, and then part of the Henry's brand a decade ago.

Other TCG pubs undergoing refurbishment over the next few months include:

â- The introduction of the successful King's Feast "king size value" menu to community pubs including the Molly Millar in Wokingham, the Parrswood hotel in East Didsbury, near Manchester, and the Sugar Loaf in Dunstable.

TCG chief operating officer Nigel Wright said: "In the current climate, all pubs have to work harder to attract customers.

"Our recent pub developments have generated a strong uplift in sales and are typically providing industry-leading returns on investment. We're confident that this next phase of our capital investment programme will have similar results, and we aim to bring more pubs into it in the New Year."
