The Irish hotel industry is in for a "very promising" year following the extension of a tax-relief scheme for hoteliers and continued growth in new hotel development, according to property consultants CB Richard Ellis Gunne.
More than 1,600 bedrooms are scheduled to come online in the country this year, including three Radisson hotels, three Clarion hotels, a 204-bedroom Holiday Inn at Dublin Airport and a 253-bedroom Jurys Inn on Dublin's Parnell Street.
CB Richard Ellis Gunne pointed to the Irish government's decision to extend the Hotel Capital Allowances tax-relief scheme to the end of July 2006 as a key factor in new hotel development going forward.
