Independent contract caterer Restaurants at Work has secured a two-year deal with the Birmingham Chamber of Commerce.

The £200,000 per year contract will see the Epsom-based caterer run the Chamber’s staff café and provide hospitality meals and buffets for thousands of delegates using its conference rooms each year.

It is the first contract to be won by Restaurants at Work’s new Midlands team which was launched in Leamington Spa late last year.

Wyn Roberts, managing director of Restaurants at Work, added: “This is the first contract we have won in Birmingham city centre, and it is a major breakthrough for the company.

“Having previously been very much a southern based firm we have started to spread further north over the last 12 months and we have been really encouraged by the developments made by our Midlands team.”

Mike Peachey, Birmingham Chamber corporate services director, said: “The tender from Restaurants at Work was very competitive and we were impressed with the very personal level of service they offer and also their commitment to using fresh food sourced locally.

“More than 200 Chamber employees and tenants will also be able to take advantage of the variety of food available on the new menu, and we look forward to working with Restaurants at Work over the next few years.”

Foraging – why all the attention?

Using foraged ingredients is nothing new but the trend has become more mainstream over the past two years. However, the wider use of foraged food in restaurants also carries a certain amount of danger.
