Gleneagles's two-rosette Strathearn restaurant is being overhauled and extended as part of a £1.5m refurbishment of the 275-room hotel.
Building work began on the restaurant at the start of this year. When it is completed in June, the number of covers will go from 240 to a maximum of about 310.
The refurbishment is part of a larger programme at the Diageo-owned five-star hotel in Auchterarder, Perthshire, that began mid-way through last year. The kitchen has been overhauled and a new walk-in wine room opened, so guests can examine the wines and talk to the sommelier about the best choice for their meal.
According to a spokeswoman, the hotel has also seen a significant increase in job application numbers, up in January by 76% on last year and in February by 34%. Part of the reason for this, she said, was a deliberate strategy to try to attract workers from overseas, with Sweden one market being closely targeted.
