England's oldest inn fetches £1.85m
Stow-on-the-Wold's Royalist hotel, the oldest inn in England, according to the Guinness Book of Records, has been sold for close to £1.85m. The Gloucestershire property, dating from 947AD, has a three-star hotel rating and three AA rosettes for its restaurant. It has 12 letting bedrooms, a 26-seat restaurant, a meeting room and a two-bedroom staff flat.

Also included in the sale was an adjoining pub, the Eagle and Child, which has seating for up to 70 people. Buyer Peter Rowan owns a 16th-century hotel in Exmoor, west Somerset. The agent was Christie & Co.

New owners for Ingleborough View
Ingleborough View, a guest-house in Ingleton, Lancashire, has been sold for close to £340,000. Geoff and Sue King have bought the property, which has five letting bedrooms. The owners' accommodation is over two floors and includes two bedrooms, a conservatory and a lounge. Colliers Robert Barry was the agent.

Windermere guesthouse changes hands
Brendan Chase, an 11-bedroom guesthouse in Windermere, Cumbria, has been sold for just short of its £550,000 asking price. The Victorian property has three-bedroom owners' accommodation. It has been bought by David Maloney, who moves to the area from Devon. Colliers Robert Barry was the agent.

Carlisle hotel sold for close to £575,000
The two-star Pinegrove hotel in Carlisle, Cumbria, has been sold for close to £575,000, through agent Colliers Robert Barry. The 31-bedroom hotel has been bought by Paul and Mary Small and David Middleton, who own a hotel in Ripon, North Yorkshire. The hotel has a function suite for up to 200 people. Also included in the sale was a detached three-bedroom house, built by the former owners.

Hare & Hounds sold
The Hare & Hounds at Lambourn Woodlands, Berkshire, has been sold to Paul Whitford and Helen Windridge, who have 20 years' experience in the trade. The pub has been sold for a sum believed to be higher than the £525,000 asking price. The property includes a restaurant to seat about 65. Colliers Robert Barry was the agent.
