Weekly revpar grows by 20.5% in London

Hotel revenue per available room (revpar) grew by 20.5% in London and by 10.2% in the provinces in the week ending 28 March, 2009, according to figures from hospitality research company STR Global.

London revpar increased to £93.05, up from £77.25 in the equivalent week of 2008.
Occupancy grew by 6.2 percentage points to 80.5% while average room rate rose by 11.1% to £115.52

In the same week, regional revpar increased to £44.65, compared with £40.52 a year before. Occupancy improved by 5.1 percentage points to 66% while average room rate grew by 1.6% to £67.60.

Birmingham hotels saw bigger increases, with revpar rising by 24.4% on the back of a 10.6 percentage point rise in occupancy and a 2.9% hike in average room rate.

Hotel revpar for the 28 days to 28 March fell by 5.4% in London and by 7.1% in the regions to £86.99 and £44.22 respectively. For the same period, revpar dropped by 6.9% in Birmingham to £43.01.
