Brasserie Blanc, Raymond Blanc’s high-street chain of restaurants, is to go head-to-head with Jamie Oliver’s new restaurant chain in the spa city of Bath.

With Jamie’s Italian set to open in Bath in October, Brasserie Blanc revealed it is currently “working on a couple of options” in the south-west city.

Brasserie Blanc is currently awaiting the opening of its eighth site in neighbouring Bristol at Bakers & Cutlers Halls. It opened its seventh site in Winchester in March.

John Lederer, managing director of Brasserie Blanc, told Caterer that Bath was “on the list” and while he was working on a couple of options at the moment there was “nothing firm” but he was hopeful.

Meanwhile, Jamie’s Italians are set top open in Kingston in November, followed by Brighton and Cambridge in early 2009, and he is looking to recruit restaurant managers, kitchen and front-of-house staff.
