London restaurant Quo Vadis will remain shut for two weeks after it was damaged by a fire that destroyed a neighbouring building in Soho.

Owned by brothers Sam and Eddie Hart, Quo Vadis is located on Dean Street, directly opposite the office block that burnt down last week. The blaze required up to 100 firefighters to bring under control and sent plumes of black smoke across the West End.

Nearby restaurants were forced to be evacuated, with the Dean Street area remaining blocked off until late on Friday night.

“Due to the recent fire on Dean Street Quo Vadis Restaurant will unfortunately be closed until Monday 27 July to allow time for smoke damage to the building’s interior to be treated,” a spokeswoman for the restaurant said.

“The club and private rooms will be closed until Monday 3 August.”

Eddie Hart told Caterersearch earlier this week that the team at the Quo Vadis had been forced to evacuate around 3pm on Friday.

“Lunch guests had to be taken out and it was a matter of leaving everything very quickly - there were half eaten meals left on the tables as well as full glasses of wine,” he said.
