Spanish restaurant Ibérica to launch second site in Canary Wharf

Spanish restaurant Ibérica Food & Culture is to open a second London outpost in Canary Wharf.

The West End restaurant, which specialises in authentic Spanish tapas, will open the new site at Cabot Square this autumn.

Ibérica's announcement marks the latest in a series of high-profile restaurant openings in Canary Wharf, including Jamie's Italian, Roka, Wahaca and Boisdale.

Overseen by executive chef Nacho Manzano of the two-Michelin-starred Casa Marcial in Asturias, Spain, the menu at Iberica's Canary Wharf restaurant will offer a range of traditional and contemporary tapas.

Executed by head chef Cesar Garcia, dishes will include an Ibérica burger with Secreto pork loin and piparras peppers, or fried chorizo lollipops with pear alioli, and fried monkfish "pixin" in olive oil with lemon. A takeaway service will also be available.

Manzano said his aim was to source the best possible ingredients for the new restaurant. "It's really exciting for Ibérica, as there is such great produce here in the British Isles and together with what we use from Spain, we get great results," he said.

Interiors at the new restaurant will be developed by Barcelona design consultancy Contemporain Studio and resemble a modern converted warehouse. Design features will include high ceilings, exposed brick walls and an open kitchen as well as leather seating and painted Spanish floor tiles.

The restaurant will also include two private dining rooms, seating 30 and 50 diners respectively, while an outdoor terrace with 120 seats will launch next spring.
