I've just heard the truly awful news that Tim Hadcock-Mackay has been found dead. He was a larger-than-life person, bubbly, effervescent, passionate. He knew everyone - a networker par excellence. His enthusiasm was contagious and everyone I know who came into contact with him came away smiling.
In an age when most senior hotel people seem rather robotic, with revpar and ebitda more highly prized than personality and imagination, Tim was the exception. A wonderful, amazing hotelier, a great friend, and the very kindest person one could hope to meet.
I'm proud to have known him, and devastated by his death.
