Auchen Castle Hotel sold for £3m

A prestigious four-star Victorian castle hotel, within the Scottish Borders has been sold for £3m to independent hotel group PAG Hotels.

Auchen Castle Hotel was previously owned by Ann Skinner-Ter Smitte who ran and developed the business over the past seven years with her silent partner Cory Ter Smitte.

The couple left after deciding to leave the hotel trade to pursue other business interests.

PAG Hotels has now taken over the reigns of the hotel. It owns one other hotel in Peebles, also in the Borders of Scotland.

Auchen Castle has traded as a hotel for more than 55 years and comprises 25 en-suite bedrooms, a cocktail bar, a restaurant and conference facilities. 

There are also staff rooms and a coach house, plus private parking for more than 60 cars and helicopter landing availability. 

Previous guests include the Beatles, Barbara Cartland and Chris de Burgh. 

Christie & Co’s Glasgow Office handled the sale.
