Former BBC Masterchef winner Thomasina Miers is to launch a second Wahaca restaurant in London.

Miers, who opened the first Wahaca in Covent Garden in August 2007, will launch the sister venue at Westfield London, the £1.6b retail development, in Shepherd’s Bush in November.

Inspired by a traditional Mexican food market, the restaurant will be located at Westfield’s Southern Terrace with interiors designed by architects Softroom.

The menu will feature Mexican classics such as quesadillas, tacos, tostadas and taquitos, as well a number of more substantial platos fuertes.

Separately, Westfield has confirmed a number of signings for The Balcony eating area, which will include 13 dining outlets overlooking the main shopping hub, The Atrium.

These include Vietnamese restaurant concept Pho, salad bar Tossed, dim sum restaurant Bamboo Basket, Indian chain Tiffinbites, Italian venture Ooze Risotteria and sushi chain Yo! Sushi.

Michelin-starred Club Gascon owners Pascal Aussignac and Vincent Labeyrie are launching Croque Gascon at The Balcony while Tony Kitous is introducing his latest venture Comptoir Libanais, a casual Middle Eastern restaurant.

Other operators comprise Mexican restaurant Nineteen Ten, sandwich maker Birley’s, Square Pie, Crepeaffaire and Caffé Concerto.

Rachel Belam, leasing executive at Westfield London, said: “Westfield London is all about bringing together the best of London’s eclectic dining offer under one roof and The Balcony is testament to this.

“With varied and nutritious offerings, the 13 counters that make up this lively forum will redefine the concept of dining in a shopping environment.”
