Taylor Shaw wins Parkwood Academy contract

Education caterer Taylor Shaw has been awarded a £450,000 contract to provide catering at a new academy school in Sheffield.

Parkwood Academy, currently in ageing facilities, is in the process of finalising plans for a multi-million pound new-build school, which will open its doors to more than 650 pupils in September 2012.

The three-year deal will see Taylor Shaw update the school's existing equipment and serving areas by creating new serving points and introducing a grab-and-go service, while helping to design the catering facilities at the new school.

Jim Lovett, managing director of Taylor Shaw, said: "It is very exciting to be able to give our input on how best the new facilities at Parkwood Academy can be designed to give students what they want - fresh, tasty food at a price they can afford and a speed which allows them to enjoy the rest of their break.

"But even then, time doesn't stand still so it's important that we make some improvements immediately."

Steve Panting, business director of Parkwood Academy, added: "Getting things right in the new building is obviously important, but so is making sure that the current students can enjoy a healthy, nutritious meal in pleasant surroundings at lunchtime in the interim period."
